Every woman needs The Globe Girls in her life! Don't know who they are, you should - The Globe girls are a fabulous, larger than life diva drag dance troupe who are now willing to pass on their amazing skills in their Drag-Queen Masterclass in Floridita.
We entered the masterclass with trepidation, as the night hinted at spandex and glitter - oh my! Our fears were dashed immediately by the warm welcome (and cocktail) received from Neil Arminshaw (the creator of, and original Globe girl) along with the current Girls; Ryan, Craig and Chris. Camaraderie amongst the women in the room was immediate but we felt a little shy in comparison to our diva instructors. This didn't last. The Globe Girls confidence and fun loving attitude is infectious, you can't help but have more swagger in your step when they are around. You also aspire to have legs half as good as theirs!
Interspersed with the dance class are glamour makeup tips from Jack, makeup artist to the royal family and westend shows including Priscilla, along with warm up routine/exercise tips from David McIntosh, ex-Gladiator Tornado. David really puts you through your paces (whilst distracting you by taking his top off).
The class routine was to Beyonce's 'All the Single Ladies'. Ryan, Craig and Chris are amazing dancers (ex dance captains for Cats, Priscilla and Girls Aloud), professionals, but also brilliant teachers. They deliver their instructions with humour and personality. Swept along with The Globe Girls fabulousness you release your inner diva to the song. The finale was a catwalk strut and I watched with interest at each girl. It was clear everyone walked that bit taller, a little more confidently and a lot more sensational than before.
As we walked downstairs we felt that the class had worked some muscles we hadn't for a while. We sampled some of chef, Richard Sawyer’s delicious Latin American style food and Floridita’s adventurous cocktail range. Watching The Globe Girls show, Cabaret Floridita, you see just how impressive they are. They danced to show tunes and disco/pop classics. Their routines are both impressive and hilarious. Their comic delivery is matched by their incredible dancing (Ryan's high kicks should be seen to be believed!). Between the dances are great singers and cabaret acts to keep you entertained throughout the night.
The evening was start to finish fantastic fun. I thoroughly recommend the girls of London to pay a visit to the Drag-Queen Masterclass at Floridita. Perfect for meeting new friends, weekday hens, corporate bonding or just a fun girls nights out. The Globe Girls are the perfect antidote to the winter blues. Who runs the world? The Globe Girls!
