The latest dining venture of Arjun and Peter Waney, Banca is a fine dining Italian restaurant where you will want to see and be seen. Situated in the heart of Mayfair, this is a chic, classy Dining Room, which is opulent and elegant, with a marble floor and long, lavish and cool bar. This is a great setting, worth seeking out for your next liaison.
I overheard someone say that this place was full of beautiful people, and for sure it was packed to the brim with style. This was a bar that I was very happy to be standing at.
Served by attentive and knowledgeable bar staff, the classic cocktails are fresh and well balanced and suit the ambiance of the space. Being a fan of grazing on delicate nibbles, I was delighted to discover Banco offers Aperitivo between 5 pm – 7.30pm Tuesday to Friday – this is a sociable Milanise tradition, where one is able to stand at a bar with a friend (preferably a sexy one) and be able to sip a perfectly mixed White Peach Bellini or Negroni and choose from a variety of exquisite bites – this is my idea of Heaven. I just have to mention the White Peach Bellini (the juice is pressed in-house) knocks the socks off the one I had in Harry’s Bar in Venice and for that alone it is worth a detour here on any day.
Go to Banca for a glamorous lunch or evening, to drink gorgeous cocktails and eat deep fried courgette flowers stuffed with prawns and served with a spicy tomato sauce, followed by seared monkfish tail with guazzetto of mussels, broad beans and roasted peppers. Alternatively stand at the bar and enjoy Aperitivo. The wine list mirrors the style of the food and the service, like the bar – is cool.
