Leah Simpson samples Tacos and Tequila during her trip to Las Vegas to find out the best dishes on offer for you all.
There are plenty of options on offer as far as Mexican food goes in Las Vegas but for something simple yet tasty, the only way is Tacos and Tequila. The restaurant does what it says on the tin (and plenty more) by serving up traditional Central American fare as well as well as refreshing cocktails to wash it all down.
We arrived at the eatery upon opening at 11am so we could fill our bellies before leaving Sin City and the meals left us very satisfied. We started out with the usual corn chips dipped in salsa and their chunky guacamole, simple but effective for whetting our appetite for the hot plates which we had coming up. Despite being there for brunch in a city would only have stopped partying a few hours before, although quiet, the atmosphere was still vibrant thanks to the venues open structure.
Situated inside the Luxor resort, the highly-stylized restaurant and bar soaks up the fun, high-energy vibe of its exterior surroundings. And if the great people watching opportunities aren’t enough for you, the menu, created by Chef Richard Sandoval and expertly executed by Executive Chef Saul Ortiz, will.
We recommend the Grilled Shrimp Fahitas which include the shellfish wrapped in flour tortillas with onions cilantro and grilled pineapple. We enjoyed it with black beans and rice. And if you’re really feeling hungry and in the mood for something meaty, try the Matador Burger. The fresh grilled half-pound burger patty, caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, guacamole, gouda, oxacan and jack cheese, with spicy thousand island and tomatoes on a fresh baked bolillo roll will be sure to tantalise your taste buds and fend off any tummy grumbles for a while. Accompanied by thick crisps, we couldn’t even finish ours.
But as they say, dessert goes down a different hole, so we thought it wise to share the dessert sampler which consists of small bites of tres leches, banana empanadas, and morenita sundae. T&T is known for its inventive cocktails, featuring an array of hand-crafted margaritas, an extensive list of tequila selections, specialty cocktails and infused tequilas.
