Tender Steak & Seafood, Las Vegas

Posted in Where to Eat & Drink Now

Leah Simpson takes a trip to Las Vegas and heads to Tender Steak & Seafood at the Luxor resort.

This 12,001-square-foot restaurant inside the Luxor resort certainly does scream elegance when it comes to comparison with some of Las Vegas’ other dining out experiences.

The decor features warm cherry wood walls and soft mood lighting which contributes to the upscale dining experience. We lounged back on the on the leather semi-circle seating to ensure a more intimate meal with friends. Finer details such as the antler-crusted chandeliers complemented the classic and flavourful food.

We sat in the main dining room, but there is also a bar and lounge as well as two smaller private dining rooms for meetings, small parties and more, accommodating 15 to 30 guests, respectively. The chef KC Fazel explained that the American a la carte steak restaurant uses seasonally produced ingredients from a small farm which he personally visits. As well as California-based beef and seafood flown in daily, the restaurant also sources from Hawaii, New York and Alaska.

Their extensive wine list has won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2009, 2010 and 2011. A vast selection of wines is available as half bottles to provide optimal pairing options for guests. However they also have some delectable cocktails on offer.

We recommend sides such as the Creamed Spinach ($9) with roasted garlic and parmesan cream, Grilled Asparagus ($9) in lemon citrus olive oil. The Lobster Macaroni and cheese ($15) made with fennel, panko and white cheddar lobster sauce is an intense taste and although incredibly moreish, is probably best for sharing to avoid over-indulgence. The Seafood Ensemble ($36) was the perfect entrée, including Maine sea scallops, Hawaiian blue prawns and sea bass with lemon oil on roasted corn quinoa so it wasn’t so heavy on the stomach.

Make sure to leave room for the Home-Baked Cookie Platter warmed with chocolate fudge dip ($9).

The venue is open daily for dinner from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. with a cocktail and wine lounge open Sunday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. until midnight and Friday and Saturday from 4:30 p.m. until 1 a.m.
